Sony announced the new SLT-A55 entry level DSLR on August 24, 2010. The A55 is has been released, but availability is very limited….check out my post on A55 availability to get the latest “in stock” status updates.

- 16 Megapixel Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor
- Sensor-shift image stabilization
- 15-point Phase Detect AF system
- Burst Mode: 10 frames per sec
- Flip-down and rotating 3-inch LCD screen with 921,600 pixels
- Electronic viewfinder with 1.15 million pixels
- Full HD video recording at 1920 x 1080 with continuous AF and stereo sound
- HDMI output
- Built-in GPS allows you to tag the location for each of your photos
- Memory Stick Pro Duo and SD/SDHC/SDXC media memory card slots
- Supports Sony and Minolta A-mount lenses
- Uses NP-FW50 lithium-ion battery (380 shots per charge)
- ISO range of 100 – 12,800
- Advanced Auto mode features automatic scene selection
- Better dynamic range/lower noise using 6 shot layering technology
- In-camera HDR option combines three exposures into one for increased dynamic range
- Handheld Twilight mode takes six exposures and merges them into one for sharp photos in low light
- Sweep Panorama mode captures panoramic images by panning the camera from side-to-side
