I need help…I took a video of my grandson singing a duet for the Music honor society, it is in my camera (SX30 IS., but I need to upload it to my computer, a HP windows 7..I can see it in play back but I can’t seem to figure out how to get it into my computer…Please help…his facebook friends and relatives are getting anxious
I found the battery, I have a plate mounted on the bottom of the camera for a tripod and it’s under it . I’m so sorry for this mistake but if it’s any consolation I love this camera sx30Is and have taken some great pictures with it. Thank You and again sorry to bother you.
Paul Denaro
PS I think you people are probably saying “this guy should not even have this camera”
I give up, my manual is in spanish and I can’t speak spanish.!!! Where is the “BATTERY” located?
Can I add an Author or change owner info in the properties field of an image taken with the SX30IS ?
HELP!! Why in LOW LIGHT setting..is it only 2megapixel?? I know I have used this setting in 14megapixel…but I don’t know what has changed. I use this setting because it seems to have a quicker shutter speed for continues shooting.

Hi, I have a Canon SX30is and I am trying to find a good setting to shoot the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights?? Any suggestions???
I’ve had my Canon Powershot SX30IS for almost a year now and love it. I am wondering though how I can make the focus of my pictures be the eyes. My sister-in-law has an SLR Canon (I’m not sure of the model) and says it automatically focuses on the eyes. This camera knows faces but I want it to specifically focus on the eyes. My only complaint about this camera is the manual – it has practically no information in it as far as I’m concerned. i printed it up but feel it is insufficient. Any help you can offer I would appreciate. Thanks.

Is there a way to lock the on/off button so that the camera does not turn itself on (from something accidentally touching the on/off) and flatten the battery? The on/off button is pretty exposed and I’ve had this happen a couple of times… Cannot find this info in a convenient way in the manual…
Nikon coolpix P500 or Canon SX30IS Manual, which one do you suggest in terms of picture and video quality? Here, in Bangladesh, the price of both cam are almost same, I would like to buy one.
I bought a camera Canon super shot SX30IS, five days ago, and I lost a manual or user guide and I would like to get by PDF this manual en Spanish, because I can’t use well this camera. Thank you
A friend of mine has a print shop. He has printer me and his wife a Manual for this Canon SX30IS, Email him and I am sure for a small fee he will print you one. I like having it in my hand to.

Hi Moose
How can I take pictures of puppies “that are constantly moving”. Most of my pictures and blury. Which option should I use to get the fastest speed Thanks
You need a lot of light to compensate for the constant movement. If you use the shutter priority with about 1/250 speed or faster. Try with or without the flash, I do most photos like this both ways and the results are sometimes surprising.
Also don`t try to follow the movement with the camera, it will blur the backround, a tripod and wide angle is a good choice, you might want to do some cropping after to get the composition you want.

What settings would you suggest for concert photography with this camera?
I bought this camera 4 days ago. And i love it.. But one thing How the hell do you use the timer? i can’t figure out how.. this is driving me crazy..
Hopefully you have a tripod, push the bottom of the rotary wheel at the back, it will be 0, 2secs, 10secs, manual up to 30 seconds.
Press the shutter half way to get the focus, then press all the way and release, the timer will start as you release the shutter.
Make sure there is no movement during the picture taking process as it will create blurring.

I would like a manual for the SX30IS that I can have with me while I am away. I don’t want to have to sit in front of a computer or print a manual.
Is there a manual? I also would like to take a photography course – are there any you can recommend?
Thank you
Nancy Conlin
When i take a picture an orage icon apears on the left botton of LCD “a camera with lines on the botton side it’s that ok or the camera has something going on ” i need help on this were can i find icons and what they mean thanks.
How can I get a real book / manual? I want something small I can hold in my hands no matter where I’m at. I don’t want to print full sheets of instructions off my computer….or be tied to the computer for instructions. Please, help me find a real book / manual.
Mary
Thank you for the effort you have put into this site. I do appreciate the info contained and anticipate frequent use.
I would like to acquire the technical manual in Portuguese, the Canon camera, model SX30 IS.
Thank you for posting the manual. I did not receive one when I purchased the camera and for som reason could not download it from Canon.
Now that I am retired, I hope to learn how to fully utilize all features of this camera.
Thank you.
Hi Moose,
I just got this camera recently and already am in love with it, despite the fact that it confuses the heck out of me sometimes! I don’t get the manual focusing, for instance…can you use this feature anytime? And why is there only F8, seems like you can’t get a wide depth-of-field in zoom shots that way, or is F8 different with these new-fangled cameras? Also, the Program-mode completely mystifies me as I’m clueless how to navigate through it. Other than that, I’ve gotten lots of great photos already!
I’ve only had this camera a couple of days, wish it had a manual WITH it..so I can mark what I need to know with postits for in the field or the van..anyhow..I’d like to be able to just stick the SD card in a cardreader, to load on to my or friends computers when we are training our dogs to be able to just look at them with windows picture viewer. I get a message that won’t work. Do I need to ‘format’ the card…..
I’ll admit I’m not super smart on the computer but so far I’ve found the software hard to use. Appreciate any help !
When I want to take a photo there is green in the image that also shows up on the photo after the shot? What am I doing wrong?
Howdy Jill,
Not sure I fully understand…do you have a photo gallery online (flickr, facebook, etc…) so I can see an example?
