    hey moose,
I was wondering if there was any way to speed up the burst mode on my d3100. i been experimenting with extreme sport shots and was wondering how to capture more pictures faster like speed up the fps
    thanks bryan

    • Landon says:

try a higher class mem card, class 10.. also set the camera write jpeg, not RAW.

You can lower the write quality, but I do not recommend it.

I am sure you are switching the camera to multiple shot mode..

  9. nikki says:

i am new ti photography….how do i mke an object pop out in the picture i am taking?

    • Landon says:

I assume you mean bokeh, focused subject, blurred surroundings..

in A mode. open aperture to the widest, ..to decrease the depth of field. I would use 55m on the kit lens.. or use a telephoto at 100mm

  10. Frank says:

When I downloaded the pictures (and video) from the memory card (by inserting the memory card into my computer), the pictures appeared but the video did not. Any ideas where the videos went? Hey Moose,

If you wouldnt mind helping me with this little problem then i would be very grateful! Well, the thing is when i go on the setting M, P or S, the pictures always come out super dark even at daylight so i tried using flash and it worked but it was too bright and i didnt like it… =S my A works just fine without the flash but i was just wondering if there would be a way for me to fix this??

    THANK YOOUU x Clara

Hi I just bought DSLR nikon 3100 with twin lens package deal 18-55mm and a Tamron 70-300mm telephoto lens. I just attaches the telephoto lens but I can’t see anything on the view finder and on the LCD screen. I tried this lens on my friends camera nikon but it doesn’t work too! I just wondered why? Is it defective ? Or any settings I need to adjust?

  15. amirul says:

    hey,how to do shutter speed

    • dawin says:

The lower your shutter speed say 1/15 it will capture motion or streaks of light if you are photographing a car driving by, set to about 1/250 to freeze motion and not cause blur shutter speed allows you to capture motion or freeze motion like photographing a drop of water

  16. Mo says:

    please Help

    my pictures are always dark
what is the best setting to show the pics in natural light
and how to set my NikonD3100 with the correct setting for brighter pics

    • Meep says:

sorryy i cant help you with this but i have the same problem =S
is it on every picture setting for you? or is it just with the setting: M, P or S because thats my problem… A works just fine.

    • Luke Jackson says:

If they’re too dark, you need to do one of several things.
A: Open the apeture. Cons: Reduced depth of field.
B: Increase the ISO. Cons: Increased image noise.
C: Drop the shutter speed. Cons: Blurred pics unless you use tripod or keep it really still.

  17. April says:

So I have a nikon D3100,I was using M A S P. They were working but the A doesn’t work, everytime I take photos in the dark it doesn’t work especially the flash,it’s always late,I need to turn off just to work, what should I do with that? Even sometimes if it’s not dark doesn’t work also, please help me?

  19. LUV emINKED says:

So I just bought the Nikon ML-L3 wireless remote for my Nikon D3100, but I can’t find instructions for setting it up in my owners manuel! Dose this remote even work for my camera, or better yet, is the wireless remote option even there for the D3100? I went to the authorized Nikon dealer and said I wanted to buy a wireless remote for the shutter on my D3100 and this is what I was sold, so I’m assuming it should work. Dose anyone know?

  20. pravesh says:

dear moose,i need a slr which can shoot in macromode.with a min of 10 x optical zoom.

    • Luke Jackson says:

Usually DSLRs don’t have a macro “mode” instead you’d need a macro lens. Same for the 10x zoom. Most macro lenses won’t zoom 10x so you’ll have to buy a separate lens for that. But from what it seems like what you want to do, you could probably get away with an entry level DSLR and just buy 2 lenses for it.

  21. Tony says:

I accidently took a whole lot of pic’s in “Raw” mode and cannot download on to my computor or disk drive. Any suggestions what I should do?

    Tony

    • Luke Jackson says:

If you take pictures in RAW format, you should still be able to download them, but you’ll have to import them into a photo manipulation program such as photoshop or GIMP. From there you will be able to export them as JPEGs.

  22. Jenny says:

Having problems downloading my pictures onto my PC from the camera. Pictures are downloading and have a picture of a key on them and I’m not actually able to see the picture I took. I have taken thousands of pics before and never seen this.

Maybe I accidently change a setting somewhere on the the camera?

Help me please as I cannot see in the manual.

    • Hams says:

      Hi Jenny

In which format are you taking the pics? once its copied to the computer, when you open it what is the message you are getting?

  23. Jennifer says:

    Hello Moose,
I have been trying to figure out how to increase number of photographs taken in a single burst using the continuous release. The manual is a little confusing. Can you help me.

    • Moose says:

      Howdy Jennifer,

If you hold down the shutter when using continuous release mode, you should be able to capture a maximum of 100 shots in each burst.
