Sony a6000 Sports Settings for Beginners

Learn how to setup the Sony a6000 for sports.

In this tutorial, I show you my favorite in-camera settings for sports outdoors during the day on the Sony a6000. These settings will allow you to freeze fast action and come away with a sharp shot.

Recommended lenses for sports in bright sunlight:

Recommended lenses for sports in low light:

The Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8 can be adapted to the Sony a6000 with the help of a Sigma MC-11 adapter. This is the most “affordable” setup for low light sports/action and is best used for close range sports like basketball and volleyball. For low light sports at a distance, the Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 would be the best choice.

Recommended settings for Sports:

  1. Shutter Priority Mode (S)
  2. Start with a shutter speed of 1/1000
  3. ISO set to Auto
  4. Focus Mode set to AF-C
  5. Focus Area set to Zone
  6. Metering set to Multi
  7. White Balance set to Auto
  8. Drive Mode set to Continuous Shooting: Hi
